..... well here we are, just buried Dunk and now we are going out to get drunk and celebrate his life. We started out drinking and carrying on at the Gemini(now Spring Street Tavern) soon we moved on to the Forum( nightclub). I don't remember who was all there but I still remember turning the corner walking towards the bar and there was this gorgeous creature I had seen in there before. And right next to her sat Cindy. Just kidding she was that gorgeous creature. Before I worked up the nerve to ask her to dance some other guy ask her. What to my surprise she turned him down ............. I don't have a chance. Well it is surprising the courage or lack of sense you have after you bury a friend, so over I go to ask. "Do you want to dance?" and she said .... ..... not no, not yes, but "well I just turned that guy down" Like I give a shit. So I said " Yes I know I thought it would be funny if you went up there and dance with me after you turned him down" Funny for me but I bet not him. Anyway that actually worked. By The time we got up there it was the end of a disco tune and straight into 3 slow songs. OH YEAH , THANK YOU DUNK. I still remember the three songs.
Just the way you are by Billy Joel, that's why that was on our
cd for our anniversary. then came
I Go Crazy by Paul Davis( no Cindy not your boss) and then the last song was
When I need you by Leo Sayer. And lucky Cindy got to listen to me sing them all to her. Hell I knew by this time I was already in love. Later that night she came by an apartment that was rented by mutual friends. After she climbed into her brothers BIG truck and drove away I fell to the ground and made snow angels. I'M IN LOVE. I asked our friends about her and they didn't know her to well, they said they thought Cindy lived in
Payson. OH Burst my bubble, I am not driving to
Payson every night to see this girl. Not with gas at 65 cents a gallon. Still, I couldn't get her out of my head. So to the phonebook I go. Am I lucky or what she lives on
Payson Heights in Quincy not
Payson IL. WHEW! On our first date, I walked into the house and there was her big ole dad sleeping on the couch with some butt crack hanging out( NO DON"T GET UP) and her mom was already in bed. I think I like her parents.
It was only 3 or 4 weeks after I met Cindy that Rick
Olps, Dan Grieving and I went to visit my new niece and nephew in Ohio for the first time. I changed my first
poopie diaper there, glad you don't remember that Kris ........... that's another blog.
So glad you had that fake ID or we never would have met.

Amazing how fast the years go by...29 years is a long time, when I basically feel just the same. Thanks to my wonderful sweeite for not taking NO for an answer (and I did say "I dont' think I should" more than once) I had no clue a man that could love and care for me like no other had come into my life, but he's proved his love from the very first snow angel to a bouquet of flowers 29 years later, and all the wonderful years and memories in between.
(and sweetie...this blog....well a little TMI for everyone, though pretty much acurate to a fault--my dad may come back and haunt you for the butt crack comment!)
Joe, you are just the sweetest most romantic guy!! Thank goodness Cindy couldn't resist your charms! :)
I enjoyed the story, thanks for sharing.
The rest of us could only be so lucky
What a great story-I too am glad Cindy danced with you, and stuck with you even once she knew you were a Bozarth.
What I think is amazing is that you two don't look any older than when you met. True, Joe looks a lot more like JFK than he did then. Cindy was smart and Joe was lucky that she said yes to the dance!
Yay for romance!
I can't believe you danced with that short guy after turning me down. I went home and mainlined some Captain Morgan and drove around town. Saw the same little guy making snow angels. I actually dreamed of him haunting me for the rest of my life. If your curious, I am now gay and live in a van down by the river.
So other guy, not much has changed for you in the last 29 years.
LET IT GO.
You guys are such a wonderful example of what love should be. I am glad to be part of such a wonderful family.
Karen
It didn't work out for me. So who's the hot grandma whose picture is above my original post. Meow. I live in Milwaukee if she is interested but have a timeshare in North Carolina.
Thanks for the laugh, Jeff.
