Well I thought about the election most of the night and I came up with a big long blog posting about how I think America is in the shitter and Obama is exactly the wrong person to get us out. But I decided not to post it because there is one thing that I can't stand talking about it's politics.
I will be the first to admit I don't know the candidates or what they stand for BUT this deal with Obama not putting his hand on his heart during the National Anthem really irks me. The guys doesn't have a patriotic bone in his body. His wife just admitted the other day that finally she has something to be proud of as an American. Hey how about freedom. That's something pretty substantial.
I am 52 years old and I will still fight for my country if needed, would Obama?
How is he going to be Commander in Chief?
I keep thinking was this the best America had to offer Obama or McCain.
Why couldn't it have been Joe Biden and John McCain as running mates. That I could have gotten behind.
Last week I worked 56 hours sorting political mail that was full of lies so maybe I am just a tad bit cynical about the election. If you disagree with me, don't bother replying.
OK It is November 5th and I for one am listening to Christmas Carols, I have been for about a week. Cindy and I are going to Branson Saturday morning to see the Christmas lights at Silver Dollar City and spend some well deserved time alone, away from the dog and cat. We listen to Christmas music all the way down also we usually catch the Christmas parade at Lebanon Mo. and then by Saturday night we are in SDC watching Dickens Christmas Carol play. So by Saturday I will have forgotten who the hell won.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE

Merry Christmas you old building and loan.
Sweet sweet Joe....a Democrat and Republican can't really be running mates. NOW, lets just let them run the country and we will run our lives with as little input from Washington as we possibly can.
I can't wait to cuddle up in SDC with you and a cup of Wassel and a funnel cake.

Long, but should clear up a few things re: patriotism.
Love ya, pops :)
Some year I'd love to get my boys down to SDC especially with all of the xmas stuff. Do they still have the rides going?? I would need that to lure them there I'm afraid
Joe, I was saying many of the same things last night. I just hope I'm wrong and Obama in fact can lead us out of this mess.
Have a blast in Silver Dollar City!!!!
you poor cynical bastard, in 4 years we'll get behind Palin and everything will be alright. And to correct some misconceptions, Abe Lincoln's vice-president was a Democrat. No not Hannibal Hamlin but Andrew Johnson. An amusing note that Whig President John Tyler was kicked out of his party and finished his term unaffiliated.
I am 53 years old and I would stand up for my country,if needed, as long as they let me use karate.
I have a black belt. (I never wear it because my purse is brown.)
Have fun on vacation!
Why couldn't a Democrat win in 2000?
Jay...I am always so impressed how much you know about American History. I say take every advantage to educate us...I'd love to hear more, though I don't retain well.
Why do you think they always say African-American? Does that make ME, European-American, or American-American? Shouldn't we want to be from ONE country? THIS country? And wasn't this NOT suppose to be about race at all? Just Saying....
I also say, what is, is...now we should all be supportive of all our fellow American-Americans!
" A case of post-election nerves sent Wall Street plunging Wednesday as investors absorbing a stream of bad economic news wondered how a Barack Obama presidency will help the country weather a possibly severe recession."
Now they tell me.
According to the class I teach at QU, we are EuroAmericans. But no matter how you slice it, we have been privileged our whole life, no matter how poor we were.
I do believe people should be called what they wish to be called. It's no problem to call someone a German Catholic or an African American or a Bozarth. It's no big deal.
And Joe, if you really don't want any replies you can make that happen in your Blogger settings. Or you can just delete mine because I am on the other side of the fence. (Or literally on the other side of the street.)
Have a great time in SDC. We have been listening to Christmas Carols as we put up the Snow Village. I think pretty soon the big vein in Jim;s forehead is going to pop right out!
Jer made my point exactly...WHY do we have to make a big deal out of "labels"....Wouldn't it have been nice to hear "and the best MAN won" (Or not) The best part is that you might be surprised by who voted for who...I like that it can always be my secret. I remember my parents would always try to get the other to tell who they voted for and they never would....I rarely share my votes either....but when I am appointed to a post in the new administration, I guess that will be a dead give away, won't it? So GO, President-Elect Obama, this German-Irish- American, Catholic, mother, sister, daughter, wife, but definately not a Bozarth woman is in your corner, and I have the perfect dog for your girls!!!
on a HAPPY CHRISTMAS NOTE: Kelly---the rides go if the temps are above 40 degrees...but take into account the wind chill factor on a speeding roller coaster...BRRRRRRR
Thanks Karen...we always enjoy this time together...we are alone together a lot these days, but being away together is special. I guess we all have our little things that get us in the Christmas spirit. I can't wait for Christmas of course...Adam will be home...as well as my other wonderful boys....MY FAMILY will all be together under one roof...no more could I want!
If by "we", you mean our family is privleged you are right. I don't know if all Euro Americans can agree though.
I only wear this when I don't care how I look.
Joe, I'll go quietly. I should have respected what you said. If you don't want any disagreement in this post then that's what you should have.
You could go "quietly" by not posting again. If you post that you are going "quietly" the disagreement continues.:-)
If Joe doesn't mind I think it's enlightening to post our views! We don't all have pretend to agree. Perhaps, we can even learn from each other.
Andrea, Joe said don't bother replying if you disagree. So although I agree that a debate, especially where we agree to fight fair, is a good thing--I'm not going to get into issues here. That's why I said I'd go quietly--without editorial comment.
I'm still saying on Joe's blog. I love being around my family. :)
Joe and Cindy, have a wonderful time in SDC. I haven't been there since my kids were small so it was probably nearly 30 years ago. Wow. How did I get so old?
Sometimes I can spend all day trying to think up a post and spend hours putting it on my blog and then get 2 comments.
You slam one african-american president elect and the comments go nuts.
As far as making comments, go right ahead. What I meant was I am not going to get in a debate about this. That was MY opinion and you all have yours. If you don't like, I don't care BUT you can post it here or on your own blog if you have one.
You know how when you meet someone and immediately you tell yourself I don't like that guy, WELL that's how I feel.
BUT as president I will back him as I did G W Bush.
I feel to many of you voted for him because he was an african-american.
Trying to prove your not racist I guess.
I don't care if he is black, pink, yellow or purple with green strips.
Now he is going to be president of the United States of America.
And I stand behind him or maybe more appropriately I stand with him.
Go Obama Go
oh yes and by the way Sarah Palin...........
Did you Sarah Palin in that sexy outfit that was emailed all over the internet? She has a GREAT body for having all those children.
Joe this blog always gets lots of comments when former Senator Gore stops by with a comment.
After reading all the comments-my time on the computer is about over! I personally liked both candidaites-not all for what they said but because I felt they were both good men. I honestly dont think one person can really change the governent-too many obstacles. My complaint is taking TWO YEARS to decide this presidency.....lets go back to 6 months of campaigning( and I thought that was too long) .And as I have always done...back the one that heads the country and wish Pesident Obama all the best and luck in the change he wants.
Joe & Cindy-enjoy SDC...wish we were with you for the fun (and food)
How about the topic that our Illustrious Governor Blagojevich could appoint HIMSELF to the US Senate representing Illinois?
Who is this Obama you speak of?
America needs you Harry TRuman.
Harry won't you please come home.
