With all of Jeff's post about spring he has really got me thinking about my garden. Planting season is just around the corner, well past a couple of nights with sub zero temperatures ........... then just around the corner.Any who. This is a root from one of my tomato plants last year.
Interesting I know. I still can't wait for fresh produce from the garden. I know my sisters can't wait either.

I can't wait to get out into the garden either Joe! Nothing like fresh produce, hoping for a better tomato-crop this year. Our canned supply is getting low... Do you mulch your garden???
Joe...you KNOW you are only suppose to show your root to me! Seriously though you do grow a great tomato plant. This past year, with your sisters help hardly any went to waste including the green ones at the end, which is great. I talked to a farmer yesterday and he reminded me of something my grandpa used to always say...Frozen Ground is Good for the Soil, as well as a blanket of snow. So as much as we'd all like spring to come, be thankful for Winter too.
yep I throw everything on it I can.
bring on the snow :)
I am already missing my bigger garden, but know I am beyond what I used to plant. No time-no energy-no yard......but still dying for that first summer tomato!...as I watch the snow fly
Joe,
I heard you should lay down nekked on a cold morning right in the middle of your garden. It makes your dingleberries smaller.
That is one big root!! My poor excuse for a tomato plant barely gives me tomatoes much less a root like that!
Winter just started 3 1/2 weeks ago...I'm still lovin' it and hoping for much more snow.
Heck, I've got almost 3 months of no grass to cut which means more time to play Wii and wrestle with the kids!
...but once April comes, we will be excited for garden as we did fairly well last year.
I've seen it before.
Seriously though--I can't wait for those tomatoes. Yum.
lil Mattey,
Usually we have no luck with peas. Those peas we got from you last year were awesome. We have to try again this year.
I def. need some tips from you garden pros. We just did trial and error last year. Our weeds got out of control.
We did get a lot of produce and the boys had a ball, just have to do better with the upkeep I guess:) We're going to try planting some berries this year too. The kids will be disappointed that they don't actually grow fruit for a couple years.
But, I do love winter so no hurry:)
Your sisters do love yoor tomatoes, Joe. Tim has mulched, fertilized and added loads of topsoil on this crappy clay but still can't get a garden like yours. I think last year all the rain did it in. We have lots of weeds too. Randy said he adds Preen and keeps the weeds down.
randy have a root like mine?
I do love winter BUT winter without snow is like a garden without tomatoes.
ANNOYING!!!!!
what a root!
Joe, your root, it explains a lot...
I love tomatoes and snow, but not at the same time, unless school closes in which case I'm happy no matter what kind of tomato is planted. If you add Preen is school more likely to be cancelled?
Wow, nice root Joe. Jim has root envy...
I am tired of your root. I grew up with your root. Mom always said "Go look at Joey's root. You should have such a root". Alright all ready. I get it. Please blog about .....anything.
By the way...Dad made fun of your root.
