DRY SPELL

Talk about a dry spell, it’s been 3 years and Cindy said I have to wait 1 more month. Bull Shit, I have been a good boy, I have needs. Well maybe this is the wrong forum to be complaining about it. But I can’t wait any longer. I feel like I am going to bust. John was just saying the other night he had some last month so he was current for the year, I don’t know what that means or how that could happen. I remember the last time for me, it was hot and dry …. very dry. Hopefully this next time there will be more moisture. The last time it didn’t last near longer enough. I get so excited and just like that it is over, the same for Cindy, it’s over at the same time and then back to the old grind. So please understand that I can’t wait to be in Colorado and smell that mountain air. Oh baby.

A week or so before we get there the Post Office is releasing some new stamps. They usually have an official unveiling and then start selling those stamps. The stamps come out at different places depending on the stamp and what it commemorates. This June they are bring out a sheet of 10 different stamps about the alpine tundra. And guess where they are releasing it. Yes Estes Park Colorado. We will not be there for the official unveiling but they will still be selling the stamps with a first day issue postmark on it. I know that is not to exciting for you guys but I love it.

It is like how Jay felt when Prairie Farms started selling vanilla milk. Of how Jane felt when she started getting Viagra drug rep pens. Or how John felt when he fell off the roof the other day and didn’t kill himself. Or how Eric felt when Taco Bell started adding meat to their cheese quesadillas. Or how Jer felt________(add your own here). Oh I could go on and on…….. but I won’t. But you can add to it.

Four weeks from today

I am in COLORADO.

That is awesome, Joe. Your excitement is contagious. I'd love to go too, but have to save my vacation time for a week with my grandkids. (That will be a great joy!)

Enjoy your time, and I can't wait to see pictures and hear stories. Although nothing will top Paulette cussing out Nate in front of the video camera.

Joe, I don't think I'll ever forget that last time - that's when me, Nate, Adam, Cody, & Eric did Twin Sisters - how are we going to top that?

I have also begun tossing my food on the ground before meals in anticipation of the "Dirtburgers"

I'm too excited to sleep!

Now to hope those 5 grandkids all survive the lakes, hills, chipmunks, and giant slide! My mouth is watering for a really good dirt burger...and Mama Rosa'a too

Yes, the excitement is starting to build in our house about our upcoming trip to the mountains. We have had SO many wonderful trips to Colorado with almost everyone at one time or the other, and as much as I love the mountains, I have loved the time spent with family even more. Who can top the "dam" jokes as we pass the Dam Store before the drive through Big Thompson Canyon toward our ultimate destination. Or the time we sat under a tree in Kansas while a tornado rolls past. I've been so close to Elk I could pet them, and the Moose and her babies after trucking a million miles to Lulu City and back...with my 'half' blind husband that lost his contact. The the unforgetable "park" meals...dirt burgers, grilling in the rain/sleet, There is just nothing better....And I ain't whittlin' dixie...get it? Whitlin' Dixie.

Colorado, oh the many memories! Joe captured it on his movie camera which in those days required film. A tornado hit while we camped out in Kansas on the way there. How happy we were to finally arrive in Colorado. The greeter at the visitor center (I took a picture of him), said, "How many people in your party?" I said,"Four and believe me, this is no party!" The snow capped mountains were beautiful. The scenery was so awe inspiring it seemed surreal. Have fun Bozarth's!

We are certainly ready. I feel like it's official now....yesterday I started filling a rubbermaid tote with healthy snacks and drinks I've been picking up on sale at the store. With the way my boys eat, I need to pack plenty of food! Todd has been practicing walking with Aiden in the backpack we borrowed. It's really nice and comfy. Aiden likes it...it will make the hiking much easier!

Break out the John Denver music.....

I’m the chipmunk that’s brown
I’m the dirt burgers on the ground

It's like Jer felt when she realized she lived only 8 miles from the Gulf of Mexico.

(you told us to add our own....)

The neighbors and us have cut down a bunch of tree limbs. Drew went out yesterday to find just the right branch to make into a walking stick....and he found it!! He's been walking around the back yard practicing with his stick. Guess that will be making the trip to CO with us!! Do you have yours Grandpa John??
